The Ultimo Density Meter is a non-invasive technology and meter that continuously measures the density of any slurry or liquid.
Patented Percussion Technology delivers continuous density and percent-solids measurement without radiation sources, licensing, permits or nuclear-related administrative burden.
High-resolution vibration analysis provides full-scale field accuracy and precision of 0.5% or better for stable, real-time process control.
Its non-invasive design keeps all components outside the process, preventing wear and corrosion while significantly reducing operating costs compared with conventional density meters.
At the heart of the system is Ultimo’s patented Percussion Technology. A compact striker-receiver module is secured to the outside of the pipe using mechanical clamps. The controlled striker excites the pipe wall and the material inside, creating a distinctive vibrational signature. The sensor captures this response, while self-learning software separates the measurement signal from surrounding plant vibration. Advanced algorithms then analyze the vibration spectrum and convert it into a reliable density or percent-solids reading.
Because no component enters the process, Ultimo introduces no obstruction, pressure loss or potential leak path. There are no wetted measuring elements to clog, erode or corrode, making the system especially well suited to abrasive, caustic, corrosive and high-solids applications. Installation can be completed in minutes without cutting the pipe or interrupting production, and no routine maintenance is required.
The same instrument can be applied to horizontal, vertical or inclined pipelines and a wide range of rigid pipe materials, including metal, HDPE, fiberglass and suitable rigid polyurethane. Pipe liners are accommodated. Fully filled pipes can be measured directly, while partially filled lines can be handled using automatic compensation from an external analog level sensor. Flow rate and particle size present no practical measurement limits.
From mineral processing and dredging to specialty chemicals, pulp and paper, energy and oil production, Ultimo delivers a safer measurement strategy, dependable availability and a lower total cost of ownership—without nuclear radiation.
